Originally they offered me 10K back in May, but around September, I got an email from Carvana letting me know that my car’s value had gone up. Low and behold.,, they offered me $12,677 which would let me break even with the loan on the car.
Theoretically, I will even get over $1200 back from the cancellation of the Tire & Wheel & GAP Insurance that was tacked onto the loan.
While there is a financially viable situation for people to finance vehicles, I just couldn’t justify the $1,000 of straight interest I was paying year over year. While I loved the MINI, I can easily turn a wrench myself, so I saved some money and went to the auction and bought a car for cash! The Carvana experience has been great! I was so worried that they were going to come and nitpick things on the car and try and reduce their offer, but they just took pictures and we signed the documents and that was it! An hour later, a tow truck came and picked up the car and that was it!
